About The Poster: A great poster advertising the North American destination of Air France. Designed by Nathan, the poster is linen backed and in very good condition.
Air France posters are among the most collectible of all travel posters. The company has a museum which prominently features their poster collection, and we have had the good fortune to sell many fine posters at L'Affichiste. Currently we have some great Air France Posters by Georges Mattieu in addition to this fine piece.
Air France has an illustrious history: Wikipedia says of the company
Air France was formed on 7 October 1933, from a merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne (CIDNA), and Société Générale de Transport Aérien (SGTA). Of these airlines, SGTA was the first commercial airline company in France, having been founded as Lignes Aériennes Farman in 1919. The constituent members of Air France had already built extensive networks across Europe, to French colonies inNorth Africa and farther afield. During World War II, Air France moved its operations to Casablanca (Morocco).
