About The Poster:
A lovely Art Deco poster, printed by the famous Chaix printers in Paris (the same printers who at the end of the 1890s brought the Maitres de l'Affiche collec:on to early collectors), was designed by Denyse Richard. A lithographic calling card produced at the behest of the French Na:onal Railways to venture into the Diosaz gorges in the French Alps near Chamonix. These gorges offer a spectacular and unusual visit into a naturally wild environment with footpaths that, while easy to traverse and solidly planted, weave their way into the steep rock face and cross the torrent with a series of bridges. Richard's earthy vision places one quite close to the cascading ac:on... Featuring at least a par:al glimpse of the wooden footpath, for at the Gorges de la Diosaz, that amble is the primary reason to make your way there." (Rennert).
