About The Poster: This item is an antique menu from a restaurant called Weber that hosted dinner(s) for a French literary association called "Les Cent Bibliophiles". The mouth watering menu includes creamy soups, casserole chicken, cheeses and liquors - typically French cuisine.

The Restaurant Weber seems to have a been a popular hangout for the new intellectual class of literature lovers and artists in early 20th century Paris. In 1939, Sydney Dark wrote in his book on Paris:

"There is little history in the Rue Royale though (and this is, may be, to be preferred) there are many excellent restaurants. Among them I count most highly the restaurant Weber where, for a  moderate figure, the wise can dine well, and indeed far better than at the more fashionable eating-places, hat cater for the tourists with over-filled purses. At Weber, the discerning alays drink Vervay, that delightful vin de Touraine which, as a punishment for the sins of the English, high Heaven will not permit to travel without deterioration…”

(Syndey Dark, Paris, MacMillan,1939, p. xiv)

Signed H. B (initials for a name we haven't yet been able to uncover), this menu is in excellent condition and would a be a rather interesting piece of ephemera for any restaurateur.
