About The Poster: A French poster promoting the help available to discharged soldiers who were unable to attain pensions. Common to many posters, the white space at the right would have served to insert updated information and/or images. This poster has been issued, for example, with a photograph taken by the famous Nadar of Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau. The gestural lines of the lithographic crayon and the war theme recall the posters of Steilen and Willette, and Renouard himself was obviously a gifted artist. He illustrated for publications such as L'Illustration, he was a court artist and was obviously hired as a poster designer.

The poster is without folds or foxing, and generally in excellent condition. It is linenbacked and measures 45.5 x 31.75 inches and initialed in the artists hand.
