About the poster: This piece is an original advertising carton (or point-of-sale advertisement) commissioned by the Port Authority of Boston to attract french business. The text reads "Venez a Boston" "Expediez par la voie de Boston" - "Ship through Boston", and the image shows the grandeur and dynamic life of the port. Steamship and trains, with the cityscape as a background are reminiscent of Boston's golden days as a primary port in the United States. Printed in the U.S in offset, this piece is in very good condition. It was intended to be placed standing on a flat surface such as a counter and the cardboard stand which allows it to do so was unused and is still attached to the back. Some foxing on the back but the front image, as is evident from the photo, is pristine.
