About The Poster: Internet research reveals that the Gregg
company was one of the first three ski manufacturers in the US, originating in
the late 19th century. The company was also one of the
major suppliers of skis for the American 10th Mtn. Div. during WW2. One of
the owners joined his brother to create Hart skis.
Sascha Maurer is considered by many to be America’s most celebrated poster designer. Born in Germany in 1897, the artist immigrated to the US in 1925 and established a watercolor school in N.Y and Gaylordsville. Maurer’s best-known works are his winter sports posters, such as this one for Gregg Skis.
