About The Poster: Printed in 1935 by Edizioni Curci in Milan and also copyrighted by Goldwyn Mayer in New York, this booklet of music sheets is a "gathering of the greatest modern American successes of film and dance" (Raccolta dei piu grandi successi moderni americani del film e della danza.)" The cover was illustrated by Gilbas, an Italian illustrator whose work adorned the covers of a great number of music sheet booklets in the first half of the XXth century. The artist worked for Edizioni Curci, Mascheroni and Di Lazzaro, amongst others.Music sheets are a small form of ephemera which is highly collectable as it recalls a simpler period in history when language, music and cover art were integral components of culture. Purchased recently in Italy.
