About the poster: This poster marks the 700 year anniversary of the Swiss Federal Charter of 1291. August 1st has been declared Swiss National Day and has been an official national holiday since 1994, although it had been celebrated for many years prior.
The poster features a view of planet Earth from space with the phrase "observe + preserve la Patrie" (observe and preserve our history). The bottom left corner reads "Les 700 ans de la Confederation" (The 700 years of the Confederation). Small white crosses indicate that we are observing the planet from space through a camera lens, and a miniature red and white cross at the center of the shot presumably points to Switzerland.
