The artist, Alfred Borer, was born in 1910 in Olten, Switzerland. He attended the Ecole Paul Colin in Paris. "In 1936 he opened his own studio in Olten and received commissions from notable firms from Switzerland and abroad, especially in the area of fashion graphics."
