About The Poster: This poster was commissioned by the early French railway Chemin de fer de Paris a Orleans (PO) and advertises the destination of Evaux-les-Bains. Le Chemin de fer de Paris a Orleans opened in 1838 and was one of six privately owned railways that ran in France until 1938,  at which point were nationalized, becoming a part of the SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français; "French National Railway Corporation"). Founded over 2000 years ago by the Romans, Evaux-les-Bains is a French commune located in the Limousin region. With its many hot springs, this town is well known for its spas, thermal baths and resorts. The poster is signed in the lithographic plate using an unknown artists mark, is linen backed and in excellent condition.
