About The Poster: Very little is known about Jean-Alexis Rouchon. We know he was born in France and lived from 1794-1878. He is known as one of the first artists to use posters as a form of advertising (hence this exhibition poster from the French museum of 'publicité', or advertising), and very often printed them himself. He incorporated wall-paper into his designs (perhaps one of the first uses of appliqué), and was known for his use of colour at a time when most posters were limited to black and white letterpress.
We love this poster and it's simplicity. It is linen-backed, in excellent condition and ready to be framed.
