About the poster:  The Teatro Massimo Bellini is an opera house in Catania, Sicily, southern Italy. Named after the local-born composer Vincenzo Bellini, it was inaugurated on 31 May 1890 with a performance of the composer's masterwork, Norma. It seats 1,200.

El gran teatro del mundo is a play written by the Spanish playwright Pedro Calderón of Barcelona. Published for the first time in 1655, it would seem that the piece was composed in the 1630s. It is auto sacramental, a typically Spanish genre that uses religious allegory, and is a direct descendant of the mystery as a theatrical genre. The piece is studying human life as a piece of theater. It is also at the origin of the notion of the theatrum mundi, a feature of the baroque theatre which assimilates the world to the stage of the theatre where the actors evolve.
