Size: 14 x 21 inches
Artist: Antoni, Ib
About the poster: Anything signed Antoni (for the Danish artist Ib Antoni 1929-1973) never stays in the gallery very long because of how quickly they sell! This poster shows a young ballerina getting her pointe shoes tied on with the help of two tiny birds - very reminiscent of a scene in Cinderella where the (future) princess's animal friends help her create a dress for the ball. They are beautiful, simple and I love the gold metallic detail on her pointe shoes!
About the artist : Ib Antoni (1929-1973) was a well known set cartoonist, designer and poster artist. Not only in Denmark but also abroad, where he illustrated the renown Times and Life Magazine in the USA. He created approximately 300 posters in the twenty years of his career. He was commissioned by a wide range of clients such as FDB, Politiken, Carlsberg, Dyrup, Volvo, Danish Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, UNICEF and others. His posters for the Expo reflect his playful, "naive" style, for which he is known and appreciated. (Source: Permild & Rosengreen website) His work can be found in collections worldwide, such as that of the Danish Museum.
