About The Poster: The politics of the province of Quebec have always provided inspiration for it's homegrown poets, musicians, playwrights and composers. In the 1970s and 80s (and today!) there was a great uprising of nationalist sentiment amongst the French population of the province who felt that they had been treated as second-class citizens for too long. This social and political malaise was very evident in the outpouring of music and performance pieces - and posters of same - during that period.

Internet research indicates that Langevin 1938-1995 was a poet and animator who worked extensively in the province. He was also a part of the show Songs and Poems of the Resistance - 1971 - to which I believe these posters refer. He won the Du Maurier prize posthumously in 1996, the Canadian Governor General Award in 1978 and the Alain-Grandbois prize in 1994. This poster was in the private collection of a noted jazz musician and producer and measures 12.5 x 27 inches.
