This original WWI War Bonds poster was designed by Auguste Leroux. It reads: "3e Emprunt de la Défense Nationale. Souscrivez pour la France qui combat! Pour celle qui chaque jour grandit," which translates to, "Subscribe to the France that fights! For those who grow each day." This bit of propaganda was meant to incentivize soldiers to join the war not only for the sake of their country, but also to protect the future of their young children. Shown is a soldier holding his young child up in the air and kissing her on the cheek, as the child's piercing gaze looks out towards the viewer. To the side, the man's wife tends to a baby.

Printed in Paris by Joseph Charles and signed in the lithographic plate by Auguste Leroux, this poster has been linen backed and is in excellent condition.
