Size: 6.5 x 8.75 inches
Artist: du Cane, Ella

About The Poster:
This piece originates from an exceptionally rare book, "The Italian Lakes", which is a compilation of scenery paintings done by Ella du Cane. Published in 1905, this collection displayed the stunning Lake Como region in extraordinary and breathtaking detail that transports you to a place that seems almost mythical. Indeed, in 2014, The Huffington Post named Lake Como 'the most beautiful lake in the world", so the splendor depicted by du Cane essentially transcends time itself.

About the Artist:

Ella du Cane was a British artist best known for her watercolors of exotic landscapes that attracted the personal interest of the likes of Queen Victoria herself. Du Cane spent her life traveling and painting the places she visited, immortalizing their wonder on canvas.

This gorgeous and intricate lithographic plate is in excellent condition and is ready to be framed.

About Como:

"Set in the shadow of the snow-covered Rhaetian Alps and hemmed in on both sides by steep wooded hills, Lake Como (aka Lake Lario) is the most spectacular of the region's three major lakes. Shaped like an upside-down Y (or an armless wanderer), its winding shoreline is dotted with ancient villages and exquisite villas." (Lonely Planet)

Home for centuries to the rich and famous, it is now perhaps best known as the place where George (and Amal and the twins) Clooney has a villa on the Lake. It is also the site of many of the finest hotels in Italy (like the Villa D'Este), as well as the Villa Balbianello (where one of the Star Wars movies was shot).

Como is an area I know and love well. This piece is from my own collection, and it is in excellent condition.
