About The Poster:
An original exhibition poster created for a Toulouse Lautrec show at La Maison de la Pensee Francaise in 1955. The exhibition highlighted select posters, etchings, and lithographs from his career. Featured in the poster is Lautrec's colored lithograph The Seated Clowness from 1896. He is considered as one of the fathers of the large-scale poster; his advertisements made an immediate and forceful impact on the passerby. This poster is linen-backed and in excellent condition. Small tear at the upper left side, but overall the poster is in an excellent condition.
Lautrec was a colorful man who had an enormous impact on the world of painting, posters, and art. His unique viewpoint documented the demimondaines of Montmartre, the cabaret life of the Moulin Rouge, and society both high and low. Some of his posters fetch upwards of $100,000 at auctions.
