Size: image is 7 x 9 inches; matted to 11 x 13 inches
Artist: Alphonse Mucha
This Art Nouveau lithograph was design by Alphonse Mucha - the artist who, more than any other, was responsible for the design movement called Art Nouveau. It was created specifically for the satirical French magazine called Cocorico, a publication that had a short (only 63 issues were printed) life but which provided timeless, classic creations, like this one. This illustration is the May calendar girl and the caption reads "Effluves." The closest word in the English language to 'effluves' is 'exhalation,' but the French term specifically refers to a perfumed bouquet which emanates from any living organism, whether human or floral!
Rare, highly collectible and signed in stone by Mucha. Illustration is in excellent condition, and measures 7"W x 9"H, double matted to 11"W x 13"H.
