In the 1920s, the British magazine Posters & Publicity was published by London The Studio as a commercial art annual which featured the best in modern advertisements, design, and posters. They contained numerous colour illustrations such as this mini movie poster by Raymond de Lavererie for the French comedy Le Chasseur de Chez Maxim's (Engl: "The Porter from Maxim's). It tells the story of a man who, unbeknownst to his family, works as a porter at the restaurant Maxim's. He retires after amassing a large fortune but when his daughter becomes engaged to a lord who recognizes him from his "past life" as a porter, his secret threatens to come unraveled at any moment!
Designed by Raymond de Lavererie, a French artist who beautifully captures the Art Deco style and kept busy in the 1920s and 1930s creating - amongst other things - numerous covers for Vogue magazine, this dapper mini poster is matted and ready to frame!
