These two wonderful, small labels for Parapluie-Revel, the French umbrella manufacturer, were made famous by Leonetto Cappiello's design of three men straining against a rainstorm using their sturdy and reliable umbrellas! In 1922, Revel engaged the famous Italian poster art designer to create this classic ad, which was then published by the fine parisian printer's firm, Devambez, in the name of "Les Nouvelles Affiches Leonetto Cappiello" (Engl: "Leonetto Cappiello's New Posters").
Cappiello is considered to be one of the greatest posterists of his age. His approach was "always image association - the idea that you don't really remember the image of the product itself, but the image of something associated with the product... Cappiello was the first who thoroughly understood this, and he applied it with considerable diligence in about a thousand posters." (Rennert)
The labels have been doubled matted and placed in a black frame with light gold detailing. Perfect for a bathroom, nursery, sunroom, or an office!
