About The Poster: The genius of Cappiello's style lies in the simple, direct and graphically balanced manner in which his compositions deliver the message. In an age dominated by industry and machine, a poster such as this one - classical in spirit and aesthetically serene - would surely have grabbed attention. In this case, an anonymous nurse sits amongst compresses, cylinders of cotton wool balls, gauze and the like, and gracefully unswathes a roll of bandages.
Leonetto Cappiello is considered to be one of the greatest posterists of his age. Cappiello's approach was "always image association - the idea that you don't really remember the image of the product itself, but the image of something is associated with the product ... Cappiello was the first who thoroughly understood this, and he applied it with considerable diligence in about a thousand posters." (Rennert)
The poster is lined and in excellent condition.
