1930s Original French Art Deco Travel Poster, Clères Parc Zoologique (Rouen)
Date: 1930s Size: 24.5 x 39 inches
About The Poster: A fabulous Art Deco poster advertising the zoo (with more than 2000 animals, running free) near Rouen, at the Chateau of Clères created for the French National Railway. The chateau looks lovely, but I personally wonder what Mr. Kangaroo must have thought of the monkey swinging through the trees ...
This poster is unlined and in overall very good condition. Pinholes in all four corners and a few minor tears in the margins (see photos below), which will all disappear when this piece is framed.
A little Clères zoo trivia: The zoo is still on the grounds of a 14th-century château and includes 200 mammals and 1,500 birds. The park is only open to visitors between February and October. (Don't say we don't do our homework!)
