This original print was the second in a series of nine commissioned by La Presse featuring the historic Place D'Armes. This view was meant to reflect the way the Place would have looked in 1806, with a small neighbourhood church (before the famous Notre Dame Cathedral was built), and the Hotel Dillon. The series was paid for by Montreal's Molson Brewery, as much a part of the city as any historic landmark.
La Presse, a Canadian newspaper, was founded in 1884, and as the paper recently went digital, this piece is really quite the find! Matted and ready to frame, we feel it would be a fabulous addition to a chalet or country house and would, of course, be a great souvenir for anyone from (or visiting!) our beautiful city.
