In 1938, France’s five major railways merged to create the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) "French National Railroads". To promote the railway, the SNCF commissioned top French artists to create artwork for their posters featuring the various destinations one could visit using the railway system. This poster in particular acts as an advertisement for the French National Railroads, showcasing Paris as a holiday destination. Singed in the lithographic plate by artist Jean Colin, this poster has been recently linen backed and is superb condition.
