Size: 18 x 26 inches
Artist: Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri (after)
An exhibition poster created by the Galerie R. G. Michel in Paris for a show of works by Toulouse-Lautrec. The poster, printed by the exceptional firm of Mourlot, is in very good condition with a small ruffle on the bottom left (see photos).
Lautrec was a colorful, tiny little man who had an enormous impact on the world of painting, posters, and art. He loved horses and often created posters and paintings featuring equines with sympathetic faces (like this one). His unique viewpoint also documented the demi-mondaines of Montmartre, the cabaret life of the Moulin Rouge, and society, both high and low. Some of his posters fetch upwards of $100,000 (or more) at auction.
From a private collection.
