About The Poster: In his very enlightening article "Loterie nationale : Mythes et symboles" written in 1969 by Jean Boniface, the influential French journalist and author of many books on consumerism, education and advertising proposes an in-depth analysis of posters commissioned by the French lottery since 1953, a date at which it began hiring some of France's best designers and developing a corpus of some of the most effective posters in history. Important designers included René Vincent, Jean Effel, Pol Ferjac, Derouet et Lesacq.
This particular piece is signed Lucien Boucher, a French illustrator and posterist who began his career as a caricaturist for Le Rire.
