This Alaska Airlines poster from the 1960s was designed to promote the state of Alaska. It features an Eskimo dancer from Kotzebue surrounded by drummers - traditional Inuit music being based on percussion instruments, especially drums. Kotzebue, known as the gateway to the Arctic, is a city in the Northwest Arctic Borough in Alaska. It is the borough's seat, by far its largest community and the economic and transportation hub of the subregion of Alaska encompassing the borough.
The poster reads: See All Alaska: Alaska Airlines, Golden Nugget Jet Service. Underneath, six illustrated boxes pull audiences' attention towards which sites and attractions to visit. They're captioned Native Fish Wheel - Sea Level Glaciers - Abundant Wildlife - Majestic Mt. McKinley - Gold Dredging - Eskimo Kayaks.
Lined and in great condition, from a private collection.
