Size: 15 x 20 inches
Artist: Villemot, Bernard
A lovely poster by one of the most iconic French posterists of his time, Bernard Villemot. A graphic artist known primarily for his iconic advertising images for Orangina, Perrier, ally Shoes and Air France, Villemot was also known for his sharp artistic vision and his ability to distill an advertising message to a memorable image with simple, elegant lines and bold colors.
Vintage aviation posters, whether for passenger airlines or air shows had to grab your attention quickly and give you the sense of flight. This is a wonderful poster (which now has a delicious retro feel about it!) for one of the largest air shows in the world, the Paris Air Show, held at the Le Bourget every year since 1949.
Le Bourget is a large trade fair for both military and civilian aircraft. Billed as "the world's premier and largest event dedicated to the aviation and space industry" it has been the scene of some excellent air shows, a few crashes, and is a destination of choice for pilots and aficionados.
This poster, for the 1981 version of the show, is in mint condition, on linen, from a private collection, and ready to frame.
