Artist: Andy Warhol
Swedish gallery Galerie Börjeson is a family company that features the works of several graphic artists including Marc Chagall, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, and Tadashi Nakayama (amongst others) working directly with the artists and publishing their own edition runs.
In the 1980s, Galerie Börjeson commissioned Andy Warhol to create a series of prints of Ingrid Bergman for them. The source images used for these portrait pieces include movie stills from her role in Casablanca (‘With Hat’), Les Cloches de Sainte-Marie et and also a publicity photo (‘Herself’) - this last one is the image featured in this exhibition poster. Warhol was known for bridging the gap between celebrity culture, the world of cinema, and artistic expression, so this collaboration was a match made in heaven!
This poster is unlined and in very good condition.
