About the Poster: Just like it's competitor Le Bon Marché, Galeries Lafayette is a world-famous department store with a long history. Both shops began in Paris, France in the 1800s and each has its loyal customers and critics. Galeries Lafayette has grown exponentially, and now has offshoots in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
About the Artist: Hibino was born in 1958 in Gifu, Japan. He completed graduate school at Tokyo University of the Arts were he currently holds a professorship. In recent years, Hibino has received global accolades and awards, including: the 3rd Japan Graphic Exhibition grand-prize (1982); the 30th ADC Award grand-prize (1983); the 1st JACA Exhibition grand-prize; and Mainichi Design Prize grand-prize (1999). Hibino participated in the Sydney Biennale (1986, Australia) and the Venice Biennale (1995, Italy).
