Art Deco was a popular international art design movement from 1925 until the 1940s, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design, and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts, and film. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional and modern.
This poster was created for an exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts titled "Les Années 20: L'Âge des Métropoles" which translates to "The Roaring Twenties: Age of the Metropolis." The show explored the evolution (or what one critic called the "sudden mutation") of urbanism and architecture in the 1920s at a point where a generation was confronted with the machinist era.
This unlined poster is in very good condition with signs of wear around the edges. From the collection of the artist.
