Although we specialize in original vintage posters, we are sometimes seduced by more recent pieces which possess some similar cachet - such as this wacky poster for a burlesque show in Montmatre.
Fodors writes of this Parisian arrondissement that "Montmartre has become almost too charming for its own good. Yes, it feels like a village (if you wander off the beaten path); yes, there are working artists here (though far fewer than there used to be); and yes, the best view of Paris is yours for free from the top of the hill (if there's no haze). That's why on any weekend day, year-round, you can find scores of visitors crowding these cobbled alleys, scaling the staircases that pass for streets, and queuing to see Sacré-Coeur, the "sculpted cloud," at the summit."
Paris generally, and Montmartre specifically, have always been home to some of the best burlesque shows in the world. This unapologetic poster pays tribute to those shows and their performers with reference's to Toulouse Lautrec's La Goulue and other classic French performers.
This poster is unlined and in excellent condition. From a private collection.
