Val de Loire (Engl: Loire Valley) is referred to as the Cradle of the French and the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards, fruit orchards (such as cherries), and artichoke and asparagus fields, which line the banks of the river. Notable for its historic towns, architecture, and wines, the valley has been inhabited since the Middle Palaeolithic period. In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley to its list of World Heritage Sites.
The SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français; "French National Railway Corporation") is France's national state-owned railway company. Begun in 1938, it used posters from its inception to advertise the multitude of destinations which were served by its rail-lines. This poster was produced for the French Tourist Board, and the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Tourism.
This poster is in overall very good condition with wear along the upper left hand corner and around the edges. Ready to frame.
