Mid-Century Modern (1933-1965)

Mid-century modern design followed the Art Deco style, and the two are often confused for one another. Where Art Deco was inspired by the geometry of industry and machine, mid-century design is characterized by its clean lines, organic shapes, strong colours, and bold patterns. Being products of the post-war period, they also tend to be quite happy and cheerful. Think: Mad Men, the original Ocean's Eleven, and Audrey Hepburn circa Breakfast at Tiffany's.
