Art Nouveau was an international style that peaked in the late nineteenth century and lasted until the beginning of the First World War. It carried the influence of the Victorian and Belle Epoque styles which favoured ornamentation over simplicity, and is characterized by the intricate, flowing lines inspired by organic shapes and natural forms.
