Tobacco companies were ALWAYS well funded, and whether you smoke or not it's  undeniable that the aesthetics of these posters make up some of artists' finest  works. René Vincent - a favorite of ours - produced some incredible work for the  French Regie Francaise, Cappiello has his Le Nil, Ernst Lubbert has a fine German  Art Deco piece... they might not make you want to start smoking, but they will most certainly make you appreciate posters as an incredible art-form.
