Mid-Century Modern (1933-1965)

Mid-Century Modern followed and was inspired by Art Deco design innovations.  Where Art Deco was categorized by the geometry of industry and machine, Mid-Century design uses clean lines, more organic shapes, strong colours, and bold  patterns. Being products of the post-war period, they also tend to be quite happy  and cheerful. Think: Laurel and Hardy, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn circa Love in the Afternoon.
