About this poster:

This poster was created to advertise the 'Symphonies portuaires' or 'Symphonies in the port' series organized by Pointe-à-Callière Museum (Archaeology and History Complex) in Montreal. Now approaching their 25th season, the concerts take place in front of the museum in the Old Port of Montreal. The March 1998 concerts promoted by this poster are Michel Frigon's 'Ode to Poseidon' and Monique Jean's 'Call of the Whistling Machines'. Combining the bells of the Notre Dame basilica, locomotive noises, and the horns of moored ships, the port symphonies are a unique way to experience music and culture in the Winter.

The image of ships featured on the poster is an engraving by Montreal artist Claude Montoya. Born and trained in France, Montoya has been working in Canada since 1986 and typically creates popular urban scenes.

This poster is in very good overall condition. There is some damage along the top of the poster and on the edges as well as small holes from staples - all of which should disappear when framed.
