Lignite briquettes are known for their long burn time and high heat output compared to traditional logs. This poster is specifically promoting briquettes produced by the Union of the Cologne basin in Germany and was printed by Henri Dormoy publishing in Paris in 1930.

This beautiful poster was designed by French artist Pierre Fix-Masseau. His father was also an artist and served as the Director of the National School of Decorative Arts in Limoges. A graduate of the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, Fix-Masseau was invited in 1928 to work with famed poster artist Cassandre at his Versailles studio. He went on to design advertisements for luxury products and for Air France, the French National Lottery, and the national rail service. The artist's works are now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the MoMA among others.

This poster has been linen backed and is in excellent condition.
