About The Artist: Jean Effel (actually François Lejeune, 1908 - 1982) was a French caricaturist, cartoonist and watercolorist. He took the artistic pseudonym "Effel" from the initials of his name and surname "FL". In addition to the visual arts, he studied music and philosophy.

About The Poster: Created in 1933, the French National Lottery became widely popular after the media coverage of barber Paul Bonhoure's win of five million francs in the first draw. In a very enlightening article "Loterie Nationale: Mythes et symboles" written in 1969, the influential French journalist and author of many books on consumerism, education, and advertising propose an in-depth analysis of posters commissioned by the French lottery.

This poster from 1965 is in very good condition with some minor flaws (see photos). Ready to frame.
