This original, vintage 1935 German poster advertises a German music celebration that featured works by Bach, Handel and Schutz.

About Johann Sebastian Bach: Bach was a German composer and musician of the late Baroque period. He is known for his orchestral music such as the Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations. Since the 19th century Bach revival he has been generally regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music.

About George Frederick Handel: Handel was a German-British Baroque compeser well-known for his operas, pratorios, anthems and organ concertos. Handel trained in Halle and worked as a composer in Hamburg and Italy before settling in London in 1712. Handel's music forms one of the peaks of the "high baroque" style, bringing Italian opera to its highest development, creating the genres of English oratorio and organ concerto, and introducing a new style into English church music. He is consistently recognized as one of the greatest composers of his age.

About Heinrich Schutz: Schutz was a German early Baroque composer and organist, generally regarded as the most important German composer before Bach, as well as one of the most important composers of the 17th century. He is credited with bringing the Italian style to Germany and continuing its evolution from the Renaissance into the Early Baroque.
