About the poster:
Lescène Laboratories was a French pharmaceutical company popular in the early 1900's. In the 1940's they commissioned illustrator Jacqueline Duché (1892 - 1973) to illustrate advertisements for their medications. This charming piece is one such advertisement.
The front of the illustration reads: 'Aux grands maux les grand remèdes,' ("big ailments needs big remedies"), a play on the French equivalent of the phrase 'desparate times call for desperate measures'!
Poster is in good condition with slight staining on the edges. See photos for more details.
