He was born on November 6, 1907 in Paris, and died on October 31, 2002 in Trouville-sur-mer, aged 94. His work is distinguished by its humorous simplicity. Self-taught, he started designing posters under A. M. Cassandre, an influential French painter, poster artist, and typeface designer. A permanent display of his work can be found in the Montebello Museum in Trouville.
