Artist: Warhol, Andy (after)

This oversized poster was created to advertise an exhibition at Paris's Musée d'art moderne of Andy Warhol's oeuvre, in particular, his monumental body of work on abstraction titled "Shadows" which is made of 102 silkscreen canvas panels. According to the MAM's press release, "As a setting for the first European showing of Shadows (1978-79) in their entirety, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is devoting a remarkable exhibition to Andy Warhol (1928-1987). Comprising over 200 works, Unlimited highlights the serial side of the Warhol oeuvre – a crucial aspect of his work – and his ability to rethink the way art should be exhibited."

Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure on the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. Warhol's artwork ranged in many forms of media that include hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. From autumn 1962 onward, Warhol's paintings were made almost exclusively by screen-printing photographic images on to colored backgrounds. These works were executed with the help of assistants in the studio that he called The Factory.

Poster measures 46.5 x 69 inches, is unlined and is in great condition save a small tear in upper right-hand margin.
