Mads Berg is a Danish illustrator specializing in poster design, brand and editorial illustrations, cover art, and murals. Based out of Copenhagen, Berg has an impressive list of international clients. His work is characterized by a style that translates classic poster art into a modern and timeless look. This image was used to promote the 2008 European Beer Festival which took place in Copenhagen and attracted over 21,000 guests, including importers, handlers, breweries, and more!

Born in 1975, Berg graduated from the Danish Design School in 2001 and has since been working independently as a professional illustrator and occasional lecturer at design schools across Denmark. He has been a jury member for the Best in Swedish (Kolla) and Norwegian (Visuelt) Contemporary Illustration on several occasions, in 2010 he was awarded the “Best Danish Children's Comic” prize, and in 2009 the Danish Design Prize. Berg’s poster art is represented at the Danish National Design Archives at the Design Museum Danmark.

The beer market in Denmark is dominated by Carlsberg and Tuborg. Since Tuborg was acquired by Carlsberg in 1970, Carlsberg has held a near-monopoly. A number of regional breweries have managed to survive, with a large number of microbreweries recently appearing. The Copenhagen Beer Festival brings together the most epic brewers from around the world, paired with incredible live music. It is traditionally hosted in its hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark, but occasionally held in the United States in early fall.
