René Gruau (1909 - 2004) was a Italian-French artist whose distinctive style greatly impacted haute couture, theatre, art, and commercial design. His art shaped various iconic magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Femina, Marie Claire, L'Officiel, L'Album du Figaro, and the Moulin Rouge. His style combined seductive sophistication with classic beauty, grace, and sensual elegance. Today Gruau’s works are collected and exhibited by several fine art institutions including the Louvre.
This poster is an advertisement for Bemberg, a company which produced cupro, a high-end, silky-smooth type of rayon. It is in very good condition with very minor ruffling on the right margin (please see photos). Ready to frame.
