Artist: Jean Criton
About the artist: Jean Criton's artistic career began in 1947, just after the Great War. After a period of exploration of a formal vocabulary inspired by fauvism and post-cubism, undertaken alongside Bernard Réquichot and Dominique d'Acher, who was to become his wife, gestural abstraction appeared in his work throughout the '50s. From this informal art gradually emerge schematic bodies, derived from spontaneous graphics, as well as evocations of spatial structures. (urdla.com)
