About The Poster: A lovely French advertisement for DD brand socks by artist Francis Martocq.

DD (Dore Dore) is a french hosiery company founded in 1819 by Jean-Baptiste Doré in the French village of Fontaine-les-Grès, near Troyes. Doré started selling garments from local craftsmen, taking charge and even supplying them with new yarns. His cousin and successor, Laurent Doré, decided to regroup this production into small units, thus creating family-run workshops in the surrounding communities as a precursor to the modern factory. Always ready to incorporate new technologies, Doré introduced the cotton loom in 1862 which could produce 6 to 8 stockings simultaneously. Further improvements came in 1900 with the linear and circular "seamless" looms which increased both the volume and quality of production. After WWI, the hosiery industry was extremely popular and the brand "DD International" was filed in 1926.

Poster is in very good condition and ready to frame. Please see photos.
