This offset Lithograph comes from drawings published in a colouring book done by Andy Warhol in 1961, in the midst of his transition from a commercial illustrator to a fine art artist. This colouring book "A Coloring Book : Drawings by Andy Warhol" published postmortem renders his previous work before becoming the Pop Art icon he is today known as. The drawings were originally commissionned by Flemming-Joffe Ltd., a leather-goods company for which Warhol drew advertising illustrations. It was meant to be given to their employees, for their children, as a christmas gift.
The colouring book was published in 1990 by Simon and Schuster New York and Callaway Editions Inc., and printed in the United States through the offset lithograph process. It is an adaptation of the colouring book first published in 1961 under the title "The Wonderful World of Flemming-Joffe".
The illustration is matted with a baby pink lining surrounding its borders. Ready to frame.
