About The Museum: "The Salvador Allende Solidarity Museum (MSSA) is a museum of modern and contemporary art with one of the most important collections in Latin America: its collection has more than 3,100 works, a figure that has increased thanks to new donations from contemporary artists. of historical significance.

In 2022, the MSSA celebrates 50 years since the first exhibition it organized, constituting itself as an outstanding institution for its atypical history of formation, its curatorial line of art and commitment, and its work of mediation and territorial linkage.

The beginnings of the MSSA go back to the beginning of 1971 in Santiago de Chile, when the idea of promoting in artistic circles in America and Europe the donation of works of art that would allow the Popular Unity government to create a museum for the people of Chili. The conviction and support of President Salvador Allende was key, since by understanding the historical dimension of this initiative, he enabled the institutional conditions to develop this ambitious and utopian project, which remains in force to this day."
